This was my first trip with the church youth group and my first hiking experience on the AT. The AT is touch and very rugged, tough terrain, and mountains to climb up and sometimes worse, hike down. This trip was very wet, we started hiking the morning of the 9th in the rain, the trees and bushes remained wet all day, then it rained both nights as well. This trip was cancelled early because we were concerned about the safety of the group as more rain was forecast and we were hiking on a lot of granite rocks and slabs. I think everyone in our group had already fallen at least once, and the next couple days were supposed to rain during the day as well. The kids were disappointed, but we all returned home safe.
June 8 Start at Conn. Route 4, hike to Silver Hill Campsite 0.7 miles
June 9 to Mt. Algo 10.7 miles
June 10 to Ten Mile tenting area 8.4 miles
