Appalachian Trail Intro

64.0 of 2,178.3 miles completed, not really planning to complete it.
These trips are with my local church, we take 6th-8th boys and girls out each year as a summer trip.  They learn to work as a team and learn to work through tough situations.  Generally the group heads out to the destination, then splits up into two pre-determined groups, one hikes South to North and the other hikes North to South.  The groups meet at the mid-point and camp one night together where we also exchange car keys.  One advantage of this approach is that we have vans at both ends of the trail, so no commuting is required.
